WORLD TOUR: SOUTH AFRICAN ART WORKSHOP
|
World Tour returns for its 1st session this year! This time round, our tour will take us to South Africa, land of the “big five,” a world renowned Rugby team, and the world’s oldest art objects! Our tour guide, Charlotte (Charlie) Subramoney, will introduce us to South African art. She will explain the meaning behind South African art designs, and then participants will use this painting style to make something to bring home. These designs can be applied to anything from bookmarks to pottery to wall decorations. Come and discover the beauty of South African art and learn an art you can use to beautify your home!

ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING, LECTURE, AND DINNER, SATURDAY, JUNE 2
The Aizu Wakamatsu International Association will have our Annual Members Meeting on Saturday, June 2. At the Members Meeting, we will discuss last year’s activities and what activities we are planning for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. This will be followed by a memorial lecture by Emiko Yoshida on International Cooperation and Disaster Recovery (*this is a tentative theme). We will end the day with a dinner for all members at Beans. Members are welcome to attend any of the events, including the members dinner, even if they cannot attend the other events that day.

SPRING TERM OF JAPANESE CLASSES
The International Association will be starting the spring term of our Japanese classes this April.
Date/Time:

★Evening Course Thursday evenings, April 12th to July 5th 6:30pm-8:00pm (*No class on
May 3rd)
**(12 classes in total for each course)
Place: Shogai Gakushu Sogo Center (Lifelong Learning Center, also known as the Aizu Keiko-Dou)

Details: Japanese reading, writing and speaking from beginning to advanced levels.
Students are divided into groups based on their Japanese ability.
*There will be a simple Japanese level check for those who are joining
this course for the first time.

JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST APPICATIONS (TEST DATE Sunday, July 1st)
Applications for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) can now be processed online. In order to apply, registration with MyJLPT is required first. Registration will begin on Thursday, March 1. For details on how to register, please see the homepage of Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) or contact the AWIA. Applications by mail are also available at a cost of 500 yen per application. Application forms can be ordered at the AWIA. Anyone who would like an application to mail should order one with us by Tuesday, April 17.

UPDATE ABOUT PARKING AT THE AWIA
When you come to the AWIA by car, we will give you a ticket for free parking. The tickets are valid at the Yamasho Parking Lot (山正パーキング, free for two hours) and the Shinmei Park 24 (神明パーク24, formally the Machi-tsukuri Parking Lot, free for 1 hour). We will hand you the ticket when you come, so please bring your parking ticket with you to the AWIA.
