Larger garbage: small appliances, tyres (ordinary size and under, studless, remove wheel). Motorbikes (under 50cc) & bicycles have been redesignated as large garbage, please call 0242-27-3961 (or the International Association) to confirm the correct category for any given peice of sizable garbage

Only white polystyrene trays can be recovered. Please do not put the following out; dirty trays, coloured trays (e.g. sashimi trays), trays with handles, instant noodle packaging, lunch (bento) trays, plastic trays, styrofoam trays.

Large-size furniture, large appliances, lumber, bicycles, motorcycles, kotatsu tables, incinerators

Place the item, as is, in front of your house on the designated day. There is a limit of three items per household per collection. Items that are still useable should be taken to a recycle shop or the recycling centre

Dry pruned branches should be tied in bundles less than 60cm in length and less than 30cm in diameter. Grass should be put in rubbish bags that contain less than 25% calcium

Please compost garden waste as much as possible

If you move

The City does not collect the large ammount of rubbish associated with moving house.

Please take such rubbish directly to the City collection site, it is open from 08:30 - 12:00 & 13:00 - 16:30.

The following Household Electrical Items Recylcing Law
has been in force since April 2001

This law requires electrical companies to collect products they manufactured and recycle them. Consumers must pay a fee to cover the return and freightage of the items that they dispose of. Here is a break down of the costs for selected electrical items. (Items ouside this list can be disposed of as unburnable refuse.

Other notes

  • Take your garbage out by 8:30am on the designated collection days.
  • The place where you dispose of Cans, Plastic PET Bottles, and Glass Bottles might be different from where you dispose of other garbage. Ask your neighbours for specifics.

If you are looking for a way to furnish your place without going into debt, look no longer. There are several good recycle shops in Aizu Wakamatsu which may have just the thing you are looking for, at a fraction of the retail cost. Here is a list of the stores and their location in Wakamatsu. Ipudo Recycle Shop (Yanagiwara), Seikatsu Soko Aizu Wakamatsu (Baba Moto), Big Joy (Kozashi), Fukushima Recycle Corporation (Chuo), Recycle Shop Araiguma (Higashi Sakae), Recycle Shop Second Hand (Zaimoku), Recycle Shop Chao (Higashi Sakae), Recycle Dream (Sumiyoshi). Call us for more info!

We hold our annual Recycle Bazaar in June or July. If you want to donate stuff to be sold, please bring it in sometime in June. If you want to sell your own stuff, contact the association.

If you need household goods, or if you would like to get rid of (or sell) things that you have sometime other than June/July, please contact the Association.
